Retractable Awning with Scissor Mechanism
The retractable scissor mechanism has a built in spring loaded roller. This roller keeps the fabric under tension at all stages of the deployment, allowing all or part of an area to be shaded. The system can include an automatic closing door to cover the cloth and mechanism when not in use. When fully deployed, it is recommended to use the provided stanchions to steady the shade. The advantage of this system is that it does not require much room to mount.

Retractable Awning with Center Support
A central support track holds the weight of a molded end cap allowing the awning system to be invisible when not used, and sturdy when deployed, making stanchions unnecessary. The spring loaded roller allows the shade to be extended to any position. In some cases, the central mechanism may interfere with location of electronics.

Retractable Awning with Dual Support Tracks
Two support tracks are mounted on either side of the roof. This holds a molded end cap, allowing the system to be invisible when not in use. This also allows the standard installation of electronics in the center of the roof, and allows for a wider top. In larger vessels, three supports might be necessary to prevent the cloth from bowing.
