Magnetic Toroidal Transformers
Available in various models to power systems requiring from 20-600VA (watts) of power. This range of transformers is durable and more resistant to high ambient temperatures than electronic transformers, and 50% lighter than normal stacked laminated transformers. The structure of the windings and insulators results in nearly imperceptible magnetic hum. The "no load" power consumption is miniscule (5 times lower than a traditional stacked laminated transformer). Unlike most electronic transformers, these are compatible with low voltage AC dimmers, such as Imtra's "Versa-Dimmer" and with AC dimmers (rated for inductive loads). And because these transformers are less prone to voltage drop, they can be banked together in a remote location quite a distance from the lighting circuits they are powering. Not recommended for use with LEDs. However, Imtra's Newport PowerLED with "power factor correction" may be used with these types of transformers.

AC Electronic Transformers
These are our least expensive, most lightweight and compact electronic transformers. They will fit where other types of transformers cannot. In fact, some models are small enough to fit inside a fixture housing or attached electrical box. To prevent voltage drop, we highly recommended mounting within 10' of the last light fixture in the circuit. Although their higher frequency low-voltage AC prevents their use with low-voltage AC dimmers (i.e. Imtra's Versa Dimmer), they work with most trailing edge or reverse-phase type AC dimmers (on primary line-voltage side) rated for inductive loads. Some versions are available in an "R" version which has extra RFI filtering. Not recommended for use with LEDs.

DC Electronic Transformers
Compact transformers with low frequency DC output to reduce or eliminate voltage drop and conductive emissions (RFI). They are larger and heavier than AC versions, yet can be mounted up to 25' away from the last light fixture in the circuit. Compatible with most trailing (reverse phase) and leading edge (forward phase) dimmers rated for inductive loads (on primary line-voltage side). Not recommended for use with LEDs. Not compatible with DC fluorescents.

Voltage Regulated LED Converters
Our LED transformers (aka DC converters) are used to convert line-voltage (120VAC-240VAC) to stable voltage-regulated 12VDC or 24VDC, which is required to safely run most of our low voltage LED products. They are compact, lightweight and economical. They feature internal resettable short circuit protection. Thermal protection and overload regulation. They cannot be dimmed with an AC dimmer on the primary side. Nor will they work with low voltage AC dimmers (on the secondary side). However, they are compatible with most DC dimmers (including our Intervolt, Lighttop, and IML Rotary dimmers). May be installed up to 30' from last light in circuit.
